Margot Kropinski-MyersMargot Kropinski-Myers was born in Tumut, NSW and completed her secondary education at Tumut High School. Margot moved to Cooma to commence her nursing career, training in the hospital system. After graduation Margot married and had two children, a daughter, Nicole and a son, Anthony, moving to Canberra, where in 1992 graduated from the Canberra Institute of Technology with a Diploma of Social Science / Welfare.

In 1992 Margot joined the National Housing Strategy Task Force and was the Principal author of Housing Choice, Reducing the Barriers, National Housing Strategy Issues Paper 6. In 1993 Margot joined the Commonwealth Public Service in the Department of Housing and Regional Development working on the implementation team for the Prime Ministers Urban Design Task force.

After a 12 month term as an Industrial Organiser for the Community & Public Sector Union and the completion of the Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management through the Griffith University, in 1996 Margot transferred to the Department of Defence working in the fields of graduate recruitment, industrial relations, leadership development and training.

In 2007 Margot transferred to the position of Director Personnel, Support and Amenities (DPSA). This organisation enhances the morale and wellbeing of Australian Defence Force members and their families through the provision of a broad range of welfare, amenity, holiday accommodation, personnel support services, financial guidance and forces entertainment activities.

Since moving to Canberra Margot has worked as a volunteer for many organisations, in 1990 Margot was appointed as the augural President of ACT Residential Tenants Union, Board member Welfare Rights and Legal Centre, Member, ACT Office of Rental Bonds Advisory Committee & Member, ACT Housing Trust Advisory Committee (Ministerial appointment), Vice President Australian Association of Graduate Employers organisations to name just a few. Margot is married to Adam and is the proud grandmother of Kealy born in 2006.

Margot’s interests include travelling, attending the theatre and taking care of her beloved Burmese cat, Kama.
